Riquewihr, the “Pearl of Alsace’s vineyards”

Hotel Saint-Nicolas is located in Riquewihr, one of the prettiest towns in Alsace, which is listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France by Les Plus Beaux Villages de France.
Although the village has only 1200 inhabitants, it has town status due to its ramparts.
Riquewihr is located in the middle of Alsace, making it the ideal place from which to explore this magnificent region and its famous wine route.

The Grands Crus wine trail passes through the town as well as through Beblenheim, Bennwihr, Hunawihr, Mittelwihr and Zellenberg. A walk along this 17-kilometre waymarked path is a great opportunity to find out about grape growing and different wine-making methods.

With its beautiful timber-framed houses, cobbled mediaeval streets, fountains and many courtyards, Riquewihr is a picturesque town with a timeless atmosphere.

  • The little tourist train is a good way to explore the village and ends its route at an unforgettable viewpoint.
  • You can take the opportunity to taste the region's delicious wines by visiting the vineyards and wine cellars.
  • La tour de garde du Dolder ”, also known as the belfry, dates from 1291. It houses the “Musée du Dolder”, which tells the story of our walled town and its defences. From the fourth floor there is a magnificent view of the town, the Plaine d’Alsace and the Black Forest.
  • La Tour des voleurs ” is located in an old defensive tower which in the 15th and 16th centuries also housed a prison with a torture chamber equipped with a strappado and an oubliette. Original instruments of torture can still be seen here.
